It was all about books and bad guys at the grand opening of Sister’s in Crime’s (SinC) brand new Michigan Chapter.
The event kicked off with twin awards for Aunt Agatha’s Mystery Bookshop, first from the SinC’s national headquarters, and then from the Michigan chapter. Both awards cited the excellence of the store itself, and the work it has done to promote the love of crime and mystery fiction. And both came with cash awards direct to the store.
Next came the bad guys. With an audience of writers and readers of crime fiction, the panelists included a district judge, a former US Marshall, a member of the Pinkerton Detective Agency and a mystery author, the panel participated in a wide-ranging discussion about the pursuit, apprehension, and prosecution of bad guys in real life as well as in fiction.
Afterwards, the gathering returned to Aunt Agatha’s for a reception and book signing where interested attendees were also able to sign up for MI SinC membership. The evening continued with drinks and dinner at Bar Louie.

MI SinC will also be at the Kerrytown Book Festival, Sunday Sept. 10, with books, t-shirts and, of course, membership information.
